gaming laptop recommendations
Hey, I'm looking for recommendations for a gaming laptop?
As some of you might have seen in my other thread, in my current laptop the audio is a $600 piece of $hit. What I didn't say is that all the other specs are horrid and HP was charging me $400 just to replace a damn spring in the mouse's left click button because of shipping and handling?
Longer story short, I want to buy a new laptop, preferably for gaming, and that lies around $1000 but preferably a bit under. Does anyone have any recommendations? This is what I was thinking of buying:

The specs seem just right on the spot. I want something that can handle Grand Theft Auto San Andreas with the Graphics improvement mod but nothing unnecessary more other than distant objects and land not disappearing in GTA when doing things like flying. Nothing pisses me off more than walking on a void of invisible land and trees disappearing.
The problem however comes into play with the fact that the mousepad doesn't appear to have a built in scroll, and that it is 15.6 instead of 16, and would be hard to get use to. And I stress that a good mousepad is a must for me since I've gotten use to them for gaming (Including for FPS games like Counter Strike)
So could anyone recommend me a good laptop for this poor bastard here who has problems even with GW?

Hmm does it need to be a laptop? A $600 desktop could handle all the games you can throw at it and more.
Give me a sec, im currently at work, but ill find you a laptop that will fit your needs.

there is no such thing as a good touchpad for gaming - sorry that's just a fact - game with a real mouse and avoid being pawned.
seriously though, at that budget you want to look for either an i3 or i5 processor and a HD5650 or Geforce 330 graphics chip - A combination of those 2 things will give you pretty good gaming performance and can probably be found for as little as $800 if you find a good sale going on - screen size, HDD size, etc. are up to you.... I personally like Toshiba and Asus laptops.

To be honest, I really just want something with the as close in interface as my current laptop, but with good specs that can play high end GTA SA:

This laptop looks sick. What do you think?

The laptop I linked is vastly superior, and it doesn't look bad either... It's jet black with red accents. Not that looks should matter at all when it comes to getting a gaming laptop.
You'd be wasting your money with that 330M notebook compared to a Mobility HD5730.
You can get an external USB numpad if it's a huge deal.... also, you need to get an external mouse if you want to game. So, that solves mouse scroll issue.

at $750 this is the most bang for the buck it's got a 17.3" screen (if you have to game on a laptop no need to settle for anything less than a decent screen size) - it's got your touchpad that scrolls, it's got a number pad and it's an i3 CPU with a HD5650 GPU which is better than the 330m and only a half a step below the 5730 (5730 is based on 5650 and is only a few slots below it on notebookreview.com) anything that this laptop can't play the $1000 one will struggle with too and if it were me I'd save the $250 and buy something else I really wanted.

I don't see it in this thread, but i remember Sojar recommending it in a similar thread if i'm not mistaken.
Anyways, if you want a 16" and you ca go a bit over budget, look at the asus N61JQ: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834220696. This one should suit your needs as well. However as i mentioned, it's ~75$ over your budget.
